Kuala Lumpur is the only city in the world that has a natural rainforest situated right at its centre. The KL Forest Eco Park gazetted as a forest reserve 1906 and is one of the oldest in Malaysia. Situated near the forest is one of the city's skyline icons, the Kuala Lumpur Tower, which was constructed with utmost attention being paid to the environment to ensure that the natural surroundings of KL Forest Eco Park in undisturbed. Special care was taken to ensure that the construction did not interfere with a 106 year old Jelutong tree that can be viewed near the Pedestrian Mall on the Tourist Floor.
