Merdeka Square Kuala Lumpur

Dataran Merdeka or Merdeka Square is without a doubt KL's best known historic point. Additionally called Dataran Merdeka, it is set before the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (the previous State Secretariat). Straightforwardly in front is the Royal Selangor Club and toward the north is St. Mary's Church, one of Malaysia's most seasoned Anglican places of worship.

Inside the provincial center of Kuala Lumpur, where the remainders of the British realm are particularly obvious, Merdeka Square is by all accounts just a mammoth field with impeccably manicured green gardens and a centerpiece of the tallest flagpole on the planet (95m) gladly showing the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian banner). At the edge of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Raja Laut, Merdeka Square is comprised of a padang (field) that was at one time the Selangor Club cricket pitch.

Merdeka Square

The Merdeka Square is found precisely inverse the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and appropriate close to the Royal Selangor Club. This is the verifiable place where the Union Flag was brought down and the Malayan banner was raised for the first run through at the struck of midnight of 31st August 1957. From that point on, Merdeka Square has been the scene for the yearly Merdeka Parade.
